Over the past decade, I’ve come to realize the complexity and overall difficulty of raising investment capital in Baltimore is a major factor in why many companies fail.
If someone decided to run a marathon but had no training or experience, they would likely not finish the marathon. For early-stage companies, raising capital is relatively expensive, risky and frustrating. Finishing investors and managing the overall fundraising distracts from regular business at a time when time is especially difficult to manage.
Most first-time founders don’t fully understand fundraising options available, and many current public resources aren’t robust enough to provide a complete picture.
I decided to create FundBaltimore as a website to aggregate resources, provide opinions and options for raising capital in Baltimore. If you would like to contribute to FundBaltimore or provide suggestions on what we might want to include, please contact Gary Pick on Linkedin.
