This link is to an interesting study of kids CO2 levels after wearing masks for extended periods. As kids go back to school, the Delta variant might give cause to ask kids to wear masks.
I think mask technology really needs to advance and standards for safe non-medical use needs to improve. Most people are just trusting marketing language Chinese firms print of their boxes or getting masks from Judy mask maker down the street, and that is just not good enough.
My guess is that cloth masks are not as good at protecting against anything. I’d like to see a mask with some technology integrated into it, possibly to monitor allergens or other potentially harmful particles. The masks people are wearing now aren’t much better than what we had in 1918.
I know, you are going to say that people don’t need to wear masks anymore. You are right, to a degree, but I feel as a society we should be more accepting of people that want to wear masks regularly and we should have masks that could help people with a variety of issue including ash, pollen, dust, chemicals and other contaminants that we are exposed to on a regular basis.
The government needs to do a better job of providing quality solutions.
