It is only Wednesday this week but I’ve been working to work through some thing so I thought I would write a few down before I forget.

One, this morning, I was reading about tax history so I could possibly revisit my taxes for the past few years. While doing that, I noticed that early taxes were imposed on people “pracising Law and Physic.” My first question was what the heck is ‘physic?”

The answer is that ‘physic’ is the word for medicine. Surprisingly adding an s it is a completely different word. Physics is the study of energy and matter in space and time. Neither are related to Psychic but I thought I should throw that in there for fun.

So, we now both know why physicians are called physicians and not medicians because that sounds too much like magicians and that would be weird. 🙂

Yesterday, I purchased a laser measuring tool to measure for community Christmas lights. I’ll post on what I learned about that later.

Professional Laser Measuring

I learned that, according to Thompson’s Water Seal company, there is a certain VOC level allowed by environmental law and their old sealer was too toxic. So, they had to remove some of the mineral spirits, causing their batch to be thicker. They recommended adding mineral spirits if needed to thin it out though the additional filler will likely still sometimes cause a white film on the surface, and that it not ideal. One customer pointed that out last week. Their solution didn’t soak into the surface and there was a haze on top, especially around the knots.

I was able to get my driver’s license renewed yesterday, finally. I learned that going to the MVA by appointment is so much faster than previous times I’ve had to go and wait for hours to get even the smallest task done. #missionaccomplished. Hopefully they continue with some kind of appointment system after the pandemic.
