Last year, I had some time working from home and I needed to get out and get some exercise. So, I decided to get out for a personal basketball challenge. I am not an amazing basketball player but I am over six feet tall and do have a pretty good shot.

I started my challenge and filmed this video. In the video, I basically shot one hundred shots from at least ten feet away from the net. I made fifty five of the shots.

Basketball Shot Percentage

It was a good first attempt.

In subsequent attempts, I was able to get close to 80% shot percentage. I tracked a few of the sessions and input the data into a spreadsheet. See below.

Basketball tracking sheet.

I can consistently shoot over 70%. But, I don’t have an enormous defender standing in front of me.

I got so good after a bit of practice that I went to the YMCA and one parent asked me if I would help their son learn how to shoot. I did of course but I think my next lesson to self needs to be how to teach.

I grew up in Baltimore and currently live in the Rodgers Forge community just north of Baltimore City.
